Top 11 from 2011

The year 2011 has been an amazing year! So many great changes have taken place, life-changing lessons learned, and awesome friendships made. There is no way for me to recap everything, so I figured a "top eleven" events and a "top eleven" posts would do!

I apologize for my lack of posts this past week. I have been pretty sick since Christmas day and am just now starting to feel better now that I have antibiotics.

Top Eleven from 2011

1. May 14, 2011 our wedding day! Definitely the highlight of the year;) I loved our wedding, and I'm so thankful for the lasting memories that were made!

Heading home for Christmas!

We are at hour 11 on our trip home to Minnesota! I may be suffering from pinterest overdosage, but I'm pretty happy I had my iPhone to keep me entertained!

I found a few last Christmas pins on pinterest to share with you before the Christmas season is over.

Christmas morning I get to spend with my hubby;) we already opened our gifts to each other but it will be nice to just have breakfast together and have some time alone on our first Christmas married!

After going to a Christmas church service we will spend the afternoon with my family and grandparents opening gifts and having dinner together!

So for now, Merry Christmas! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend!

Leave me a comment and tell me all about your Christmas plans!

Christmas Cookies

I'm going to be honest, I'm a little sad this year because I haven't gotten to make very many Christmas cookies!

For the past 20 Christmases, my sisters and I have gotten together and made more Christmas cookies than anyone ever needs to make.
But it was fun
and delicious

The reason I haven't made many cookies is because there is no one around to eat them!
Or if I'm being honest....it's because I would eat them all.

So last night, I decided I would make a batch of Christmas cookies and deposit them at the neighbors just as a special Christmas treat!

It was a simple recipe and it's your lucky day because I'm sharing it with you!
You will need:
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 large egg
2 1/2 cups white flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar.

In a large bowl, mix the powdered sugar, butter vanilla, and egg until well blended. Stir in the rest of the ingredients and mix until a dough forms. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.

Heat oven to 375 and lightly grease cookie sheet.

Form the dough into large balls and place on cookie sheet with plenty of room between. Take a glass, or something with a round bottom. dip it in flour and smash the cookies flat!

Bake for 7-8 minutes
Remove cookies from sheet
Before the cookies cool, place a hershey's kiss in the center!
Yummmm
This recipe makes enough for 3 plates of cookies.
One for each neighbor on either side of you
and one for you to keep :)
Happy Christmas cookie baking!

All I want for Christmas

The hubby and I celebrated our Christmas together last night! We will be at my family's on the actual Christmas Day so we went ahead and had ours early!

We started off the night with our yummy dinner by candlelight listening to Christmas music.
No, don't worry...all those presents aren't just for us haha
We had a fun time opening gifts together. I loved watching his face when he opened gifts from me and I loved the gifts he got for me!
Well, in case you didn't notice, the pictures above were taken with an IPHONE!
That would be my iphone....given to me by my sweet hubby!
Definitely one of my favorite gifts =]
It has been such a special first Christmas for us...and it's not over yet!
There's still a few more parties and of course, Christmas Day
It's funny to me how different this Christmas is from the last when we weren't married. Last year, I was still so nervous around Jimmy and trying real hard to impress him ;) He was even more nervous because he was getting ready to propose! This year, we both were able to just relax and enjoy our time together.
It's great being married!

I love hearing what other people are doing to celebrate Christmas!

Thank you to all my readers for following along with my life and being so supportive! I have made such great new friends and I'm looking forward to making many more:)
