I'm going to be honest, I'm a little sad this year because I haven't gotten to make very many Christmas cookies!
For the past 20 Christmases, my sisters and I have gotten together and made more Christmas cookies than anyone ever needs to make.
But it was fun
and delicious
The reason I haven't made many cookies is because there is no one around to eat them!
Or if I'm being honest....it's because I would eat them all.
So last night, I decided I would make a batch of Christmas cookies and deposit them at the neighbors just as a special Christmas treat!
It was a simple recipe and it's your lucky day because I'm sharing it with you!
You will need:
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 large egg
2 1/2 cups white flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar.
In a large bowl, mix the powdered sugar, butter vanilla, and egg until well blended. Stir in the rest of the ingredients and mix until a dough forms. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.
Heat oven to 375 and lightly grease cookie sheet.
Form the dough into large balls and place on cookie sheet with plenty of room between. Take a glass, or something with a round bottom. dip it in flour and smash the cookies flat!
Bake for 7-8 minutes
Remove cookies from sheet
Before the cookies cool, place a hershey's kiss in the center!
Yummmm
This recipe makes enough for 3 plates of cookies.
One for each neighbor on either side of you
and one for you to keep :)
Happy Christmas cookie baking!
