Day before graduation

Today is my last day blogging as a college student. Tomorrow, I will be an official graduate with diploma in hand! Scary.
If graduating high school means becoming an adult, what does graduating college mean?
For me it means opportunity. I am free to serve where God wants me, whether that be through writing,  teaching, serving at church, or maybe just being a good wife and friend for now.

Making it to the finish line feels good.
Five years ago, high school graduation seemed like a way far away dream, while college graduation was for all the old kids.
Wow....I'm an old kid now.

This last week has been a scramble of finishing up student teaching, taking a CPR/First Aid class, a student teaching exit interview, and graduation rehearsal! Now that all the busy work is done, I'm ready to partaay with my family and friends this weekend :)

Oh remember last weekend how I told you about the women's retreat? Yes, it was fantastic!
The whole retreat was centered around God's love.
My first thought as the sessions began was, I already know this stuff.
I had been hoping to learn something new, be challenged, have some sort of revelation, and the speaker was talking about God's love-something I had heard countless sermons over, and felt like I understood.
Then, the speaker began talking about devotions, and spiritual growth, and how we don't necessarily read our Bibles and spend time with the Lord to learn new things, but to be reminded of who God is.
It is never too often to be reminded of the goodness, faithfulness, and love of the Lord.
I was humbled by this approach, realizing that I was missing out on a great opportunity of growth all because of my own pride!

Once I realized this, it was amazing the things that God brought to my attention.
The theme verses for the weekend were Joel 2:12-13
"Even now, declares the Lord, return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning. Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord you God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity."

While these verses are a great indicator of God's love, they are also a reminder of how we are to respond to that love-by returning to him with all of our hearts. I was very challenged to be guiding my heart towards the Lord as an act of response to His love.

It was overall a great weekend, and we even had a chance to take naps and go hiking to the mini waterfall:)

My SIL Holly trying to sneak a cuddle in...
Thank you Jesus for the great girlfriends you have blessed me with...yes, even Holly ;)

Don't forget to visit my friends and have a cup of coffee with them this sweet Friday :)
