Friday Coffee Date

Hey friends! I'm so glad you stopped by this week for a nice cup of iced coffee and maybe a doughnut. Don't doughnuts sound great? I think that's what I'm craving today:)
If we were actually having coffee in person, you would probably be able to tell that there was something bothering me. I'm not very good at hiding my emotions! It's a horrible thing, really! I would like every once in a while to be able to keep my feelings to myself!
But because this is a time for me to share my heart, I will be honest with you. God has really been challenging my life this week-challenging me to get focused.
At the end of the day, I don't want to look back and feel as thought I've wasted a day. I want to be able to see how I've used it wisely for God's glory.
I fail at that.
Instead of measuring my success and accomplishment by eternal value, I tend to look at it from an earthly standpoint: How much money did I make today? What did I get done? How was I successful?
Those feelings of worth from making money or being accomplished and successful feel good, but they don't last.

I have been challenged to take my eyes off of the things of this world....the things that are so very distracting....and fix my eyes on Jesus. I need to measure my worth and my purpose by His standards, not the worlds.

Hebrews 12:2
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross scorning its shame and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

All this even applies to my blogging...but I will write more on that later;)

On a different note, I would like to brag for a second that I got to go on an awesome date last night with my amazing husband. I would have to argue that married dates are definitely better, and they are SO important! If we didn't set aside this time to have dinner together and just talk and spend quality time with each other, I know that our relationship would not be what it is today. I'm so thankful to the Lord for the godly husband He has blessed me with...it's a bonus that he plans great dates;)
Last night he took me to the little city of Vincennes. We ate at a little Italian Cafe that was absolutely adorable! Afterwards, we went to the historic park and walked around as the sun was setting. It was beautiful and just nice to relax and walk by the river. We had a great time!
So note to all you married women...don't give up on dating your hubby after you marry him! Dating only gets better as you get to know each other better:)

And this, friends, is where I would sit quietly sipping my coffee as you begin to share with me what your week was like, and how God is working in your life as well. Oh how I would love it if we actually got to talk in person and you could share with me what's going on in your world as well. As always, if there's any way I can encourage or pray for you, don't hesitate to leave me a comment, or send me an e-mail!

P.S. Don't forget to visit my sweet friend Chrissy over at Boerman Ramblings as she shares some Friday Coffee with you as well!

  1. Great encouragement. I believe you are expecting a little one so I would suggest you start looking now for friends, family, etc that you can swap babysitting so you can continue date night! I couldn't believe how hard it was once my baby came along. And yet, I would propose that it's even more important as your family grows to have date night!
