31 weeks!

Wow has it been a busy week! Technically I am now almost 32 weeks, but we'll just pretend this post wasn't so late;)

The baby shower was great! I am blessed to have so many friends and family.
Here are just a few photos of me with my friends Nicole and Kristyn!
We played a few games, ate some good food opened gifts, and mostly just hung out and had a great time together!
I will write a post about it soon...if my life ever slows down:)

I spent most of Monday in town for my checkup appointment. Everything is looking great so far. That is always nice to hear!
I did my pre-registration at the hospital on Tuesday. It was awesome to get all that taken care of beforehand for sure. It did freak me out just a little bit talking about my living will and all of that. I know that very few women die in childbirth anymore, but still, talking about it is a little scary!
This week's agenda is to find a pediatrician! The one that I wanted to go with is not able to take me anymore so I'm on the hunt for a new one.
Any suggestions on how to go pediatrician hunting?
How did you choose your child's pediatrician?
How far along31 weeks! I love how my bellybutton is starting to show in my photos now! I can't poke it back in!

Movement: Every night about 10:00 she starts kicking, punching, and rolling like nobody's business. I want to see if I can capture it on video one of these times. I love it so long as she doesn't kick my ribs or my bladder!

Weight Gain: about 15 pounds

Maternity Clothes: I found a few maternity shirts at a garage sale that will work perfectly! It's crazy how expensive maternity clothes are new, so I get excited when I find a deal:)

Best moment of my week: Definitely the baby shower! It was fun having all of my friends together. Sweet pea got lots of cute clothes and things too! I can't wait to show you all!

Worst moment of my week: Well my nausea has returned! My doctor told me that's pretty normal for Hyperemesis Gravidarum to get worse in the 3rd trimester. I guess that just gives me one more reason to look forward to my baby girl being born (not that I need anymore reasons, I can't wait to meet her:)!

Sleep: Sometimes I sleep fine, other nights not so much!

Miss Anything: I miss being able to move around like I used to. I get tired doing things like folding laundry now! I hate napping too...I have so much to get done that naps seem like a waste of time! I know I need to change that mentality though.

Cravings: Lately I've been wanting raspberries and of course chocolate!

Aversions: I ate an egg this morning! It wasn't because I wanted to or felt like it though. It was disgusting to me, but I know they are really good for me to be eating so I forced it down. You should be proud!

Gender: She is still a girl! You can read about our gender reveal party here!

Belly Button: See above photo...it's there!

Labor Signs:  I have several Braxton Hicks a day...kinda annoying but I know they are a good thing and preparing me for labor!

Moody or Happy: Happy

Looking Forward: Next weekend I will be in Minnesota visiting my family! I cannot wait! I think there will be snow on the ground too which is even better:) I'm not as excited about the 12 hour car drive, but I know it will be worth it.

  1. oh my goodness you're belly is too cute and you're getting so close to meeting your baby girl!
Aren't baby showers so much fun!? I bet you got some amazing goodies!

As far as a Pediatrician goes, I asked around...friends, family members, my OB/GYN. I had several recommendations, but ended up going with a doctor who also sees my niece, nephew, and baby cousins. And of course, make sure they are within your network for insurance purposes!

  2. So, cutest pregnant lady EVER...

The first pediatrician I had for Josephine wasn't the best. The waiting room was always crowded and the wait time was *awful* no matter when we got there. Now we have a new doctor that we love. I would say ask around and see who other moms like. Also, go and visit the office beforehand! Talk to the staff, doctors (if they're not busy) and check out the waiting room. It'll give you a nice feel of how things will go.

Good luck! The big day's almost here...

  5. For me, the most important thing is that our pediatrician LISTENS to me when we go in, and she takes the time to answer my questions.

Our first pediatrician just told me how I should do things (even things that weren't medically relevant, like what room the baby should sleep in). He didn't take time to listen to my questions and concerns, just had an attitude like he had already seen it all, and we should just do whatever he says no questions asked. I totally respect that the drs. have way more education that I do, and know what they are talking about, but I still like to understand what they are prescribing my kid, why it's neccesary etc. Our new dr. listens carefully when I explain symptoms and takes the time to explain exactly what medication she's prescribing (if any). Sometimes I ask if the medicine is neccesary or if there is a way we can treat it at home, and she will let me know either way. I trust her, because she listens and I feel confident giving my kids what medication she prescribes because I know how it works and such...

just my thoughts. Look for some one who listens and doesn't mind LOTS of questions. I don't have as many Qs now, but when my son was a baby I had TONS.

  6. On the way to Minnesota make sure you know where all the rest stops are.. I went on an 8 hour drive with my dad at 5 months and we had to stop every hour! It took forever! Glad you had such an awesome shower!

  9. Hey Faith, I found the best way to find a peds dr was to ask my friends with kids who they used! this was at Eden of course, or Burnsville Baptist since we were there! Also do not be afraid to use a general practice dr either! they know their stuff also! If you were in MN I would suggest Dr Tate, as would Lindsay, Jake, Nicole and Josh! they loved him!!! Didnt you go with Nic one time and you 2 screwed around in the Dr office before he came in;) seriously though! Ask around, everyone you know and trust! It will not fail you! You will know as soon as you click with the right Dr! Love you girl!

  10. I chose our first pediatrician by asking literally everyone we knew & tallying up who had the most recommendations. You can also google people online to get reviews. I knew I wanted someone super smiley & positive to make Matthew feel more welcomed & not afraid to go to the doctor :)

  12. We picked a pediatrician from a recommendation from a midwife who saw me. We are having a homebirth with our first (any day now!), and this midwife recommended a pediatrician that all of her out-of-hospital birth moms use.

My baby also seems to be much more active at night. When I wake up in the middle of the night, I notice a lot of activity.

Sorry your dealing with nausea again. That's no fun. I've had a little bit of nausea in the third trimester, but I didn't have hyperemesis gravidarum.

Although my baby is away at college (sniff sniff) and three of my kids are still at home (two girls in college, one boy just graduated) I am blessed beyond believe. My oldest lives two doors away from us. She is mom to one teenage boy and my son-in-law has other two kids and we are all blessed with Jayden the great grand boy!
Your story here is so familiar. Have a beautiful day and sleep well! Babies, I often hear, are God's reason for the world to go on! COme visit soon.Hugs Anne

  22. I can hear your excitement throughout your words. I wasn't one of the women who felt great throughout my pregnancy--too many "issues"--but the moment that child was laid in my arms it was so easy to forget! My plan was a large family. God's plan wasn't, but now...grandkids! Four already. What joy! I prayed a prayer of blessing for you and your sweet girl.

  23. I think Target is where I purchased some cute nursing bras too. It was nice to find some that acutally looked pretty; so many nursing bras are simply not cute.

Try some prune juice to help with constipation. My midwife recommended it for helping with constipation during postpartum recovery. I wish someone had suggested that to me during the last few weeks of my pregnancy because it works great.

  30. awww congrats! you look great!!!

I found you through the better mom link up :)

word of advice on the nursing bras... I would say buy 1 now for the first week or two but wait until your milk comes in and levels out (Around 2 or 3 weeks) until you buy all the ones you will need. Your size will change again after baby comes and after your milk comes in and AGAIN as it "regulates".

Just a tip :) I didn't realize how much "everything" changed when I had my first baby!

  31. When I was pregnant with our last child she would just go nuts whenever she heard my husband's voice. It made Sunday;s really hard as he is a pastor :-)

The idea of a cookie swap with the shower sounds so fun!

  33. First I just have to say that you look beautiful!! I just love the picture at the top of your blog!

I need to get into nursing bra mode; I really need some new ones. I hate shopping for bras in general; I'll have to check out Target like you mentioned.

A Christmas baby shower and cookie exchange sound like a fun idea!!

I'm totally with you on the candy!

    Blessings!
