32 weeks!

Man the weeks are flying by! I am starting to get anxious and excited for the big day. My doctor said as early as December 2, I'm good to go. That's only 6 weeks away! AHHHH!

This weekend, Jimmy and I had a costume party to go to. My husband HATES dressing up, so we came up with something clever to accommodate my pregnant belly and his hate for costumes.
Guess what we were? It's kind of a mind teaser;)

Thanks for all your great advice on finding a pediatrician. I think I have finally made my decision but I haven't met with her yet. She is actually a family doctor that many of my friends see and she also practices alternative medicine which I love. I am all for trying natural remedies before the drugs! She will take our baby as a new patient if hubby or I are an existing patient. I guess I need to find something wrong with me to go visit the doctor for!

Now for this week's big topic! I have had some major swelling in my hands, feet, and legs. What are some natural ways to keep that from happening?
What is the best way to keep swelling down during pregnancy?

How far along: 32 weeks! The weeks went by so slowly at first and now I can't get them to slow down. I feel like I need more time to get ready!

Movement: She moves a lot after I eat and for several hours in the evening. She gets the hiccups 3-4x a day which I think is adorable!

Weight Gain: about 15 pounds

Maternity Clothes: I'm loving my sweaters that stretch and sweater dresses! They work out so well for the baby bump:)

Best moment of my week: We have a bassinet in our room now! Yes siree. Our baby girl now officially has a place to sleep if she decides to come early. Ahhhh it makes it so much more real to see that thing in our bedroom!

Worst moment of my week: Well this wasn't this week, but a couple weeks ago now, I woke up with the WORST pain in my lower leg. I mean it was super painful! I've had cramping in my legs a few other nights, but this was crying out loud pain. Yep-I had my first charlie horse. It was horrible, but I survived! Did anyone else get their first charlie horse during pregnancy? I had never had one before!

Sleep: It's off and on. Lately I have been really nauseous and swollen at night. No fun!

Miss Anything: I miss being able to bend over to pick things up or clean the floor etc...It feels like something gets pinched when I lean over now. I guess that's evidence of my belly growing!

Cravings: I haven't really had any one craving specifically, although I did randomly crave pancakes one evening, so I just went and made myself a big stack. Yumm!

Aversions: Eggs

Gender: She is still a girl! You can read about our gender reveal party here!

Belly Button: Popping out! I wonder if it will go back in normally?

Labor Signs:  My Braxton Hicks have actually been more painful lately and sometimes pretty frequent. How do you tell the difference between a Braxton Hicks and an actual contraction?

Symptoms: I've had a lot of swelling lately. I'm not sure if I should take my rings off or not. When my hands swell, I can't get them off but they aren't swollen all the time.

Moody or Happy: Excited to be headed to Minnesota soon!!

Looking Forward: I am looking forward to our trip to Minnesota, and I am also looking forward to getting the crib, dresser, and changing table together in the baby room. I don't think it's all going to fit, but we need to give it a go!

  1. Blessings and congratulations on the bump and the precious little one growing within. I'm your neighbor at WLWW, and it's a pleasure to meet you. My bumps are now 15 going on 16 and 12. Treasure every moment-each is a blessing.
Peace and good to you and your growing family.

  4. I had lots of swelling too during my last two months. Make sure your water intake is good, and try to put your feet up when you can. Unfortunately, it's just part of pregnancy for some woman, and there's not much you can do about it other than that. (Or so I've heard!)

And yeah, definitely be careful with your rings! I ended up having to take mine off a month or so before baby, and couldn't fit them on again for a couple weeks after her birth. But, I did have 10-15 lbs of extra water and swelling that maybe you won't have to deal with. One idea is to put them on a necklace so you can still wear them!

  6. You look great! It's a very exciting time for you too! During my pregnancy, I used to get leg cramps all night long and nothing seemed to help but that was the first I had ever gotten them too. I also remember getting Braxton Hicks very early on and worrying about the same thing. It wasn't always easy to know the difference but the Dr. told me to pay attention to the timing of them and how long they last. The actual contractions show more of a pattern and grow stronger as the time goes by. I hope that helps out some. :)

  7. Pumpkin Pie! I am 28 weeks pregnant.. unfortunately I have a condition that literally causes me to go into labor early. I did it with my previous two.. they managed to stop both my boys a few times so they didnt come till 35 and 36 weeks.. but with her I started having contractions a few weeks ago. Im taking it easy as much as possible. I will end up in the hospital a few times getting shots and monitored I am sure..and I am not looking forward to it. I never swelled with either of the other two..but with her I have the worst restless leg syndrome.. its horrible every night. I feel like my time being pregnant is slipping away too.. It is moving so fast! I am trying to enjoy and hang on to every second..

  8. You look so cute! Love the name you have picked out too! I got some charlie horses when I was pregnant...horrible. My best advice is as soon as you realize you are having one get out of bed and force yourself to put the front of your foot down on the floor and push your heel onto the floor in a standing position. Helps tremendously! It's hard to make yourself do it but its a much better outcome if you do. I know its hard to roll your pregnant self out of a bed quickly but it works best the sooner you do it. Hopefully you won't get many more

Also for contractions....you can go through pre labor for a long time before you actually go into labor. I was in early labor (contractions about 5-7 minutes apart, lasting about 30 seconds long, for almost 24 hours before I actually went into active labor (contractions are at least a minute long, and much stronger). I know some women who are in the early labor phase (consistent contractions but not long in length) for several days before baby actually comes. Braxton Hicks will go away when you start moving around etc...actual labor contractions don't stop though they increase in intensity as labor progesses. I could write a book on labor and delivery so message me if you want more info.

    1. I'm so glad that doctors don't call early contractions "false labor" any more! I had my babies a long time ago. It was so depressing when I was told it was false labor... and sent home! I had my baby 3 days later.

  12. We have a very similar basinet and LOVE it (we got ours from my husband's boss for FREE) Also I couldn't really tell a difference between my braxton hicks and my regular contractions, except that the B.H. contraction were less regular and I just 'had a feeling' the day before I went into active labor that my contractions were different (even though I couldn't pin point why).

  17. I LOVE your costumes! That is awesome. And what an adorable bassinet!!! As for swelling, I'm fighting it too. I just try to rest with my feet up, eat watermelon and cucumber, and drink a lot of water. That helps but it sure makes ya pee a lot. (Make sure they check your urine for protein to see if its a sign of pre-eclampsia. Sorry, I'm paranoid, had to say it. :)
