One Year

Happy First Anniversary to my sweet hubby Jimmy!
Although the year has gone by fast, it has also been one of the happiest and most memorable years of my life. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful, loving hubby!

We celebrated in the cute little town of New Harmony over the weekend!
Yes there were big white robes and chocolate on the bed :)
Yes we did ride a tandem bicycle!
It was a lot of fun!
We rode down by the river for a while
Went to the maze made out of bushes!
We found our way...it was pretty sweet!
And of course my hubby would try to climb the tower at the center of the maze.
We had a great time together over the weekend!
I can't wait for many more years to come :)

Yay for Fridays!

Hey dear friends! I'm so happy you are joining me this Friday morning! I know I haven't been blogging as much...there is a very good reason that I will share with you soon...just not quite yet;)
Don't you love surprises?

In case any of you were in doubt, I did graduate last weekend! Woohoo! Here are a few pictures to prove it;)

This particular weekend, I am extra happy. I'm happy because I am celebrating my first year of marriage with my sweet hubby Jimmy. Can you believe it's already been a year? It's definitely been the happiest year of my life! I am so blessed to be married to such a wonderful man!

Speaking of marriage, I came across this story via Facebook yesterday. Jimmy and I have read a few chapters in the book This Momentary Marriage. It is definitely one of my favorite marriage books we have read. It goes beyond the outward actions and doesn't give you a magic solution for how to have an eternal blissful marriage. Instead, it deals with the heart of marriage. What does marriage represent?
Read the story of Ian and Larissa and then step back and take a look at your approach to your own marriage. Their story is tragic and hopeful at the same time. I hope you are as challenged as I was.

Their story has definitely made me think twice before complaining about anything! There is so much I take for granted in my marriage that I should be daily thanking the Lord for! Our culture has made marriage into a selfish make me happy system, and we are called in our marriages to be so much more than that. We have a huge privilege, an honor really, to be an image of Christ and his bride the church. Wow! That makes you take things a little more seriously huh?

Now that our coffee cups are just about drained, let me ask you, what's going on in your world? Is there anything I can pray for you for? Don't hesitate to contact me if so! I would love to be a part of your life in that way. I hope you all have a fabulous Friday and weekend to follow!

Don't forget to visit my friends and have a cup of coffee with them this sweet Friday :)

Day before graduation

Today is my last day blogging as a college student. Tomorrow, I will be an official graduate with diploma in hand! Scary.
If graduating high school means becoming an adult, what does graduating college mean?
For me it means opportunity. I am free to serve where God wants me, whether that be through writing,  teaching, serving at church, or maybe just being a good wife and friend for now.

Making it to the finish line feels good.
Five years ago, high school graduation seemed like a way far away dream, while college graduation was for all the old kids.
Wow....I'm an old kid now.

This last week has been a scramble of finishing up student teaching, taking a CPR/First Aid class, a student teaching exit interview, and graduation rehearsal! Now that all the busy work is done, I'm ready to partaay with my family and friends this weekend :)

Oh remember last weekend how I told you about the women's retreat? Yes, it was fantastic!
The whole retreat was centered around God's love.
My first thought as the sessions began was, I already know this stuff.
I had been hoping to learn something new, be challenged, have some sort of revelation, and the speaker was talking about God's love-something I had heard countless sermons over, and felt like I understood.
Then, the speaker began talking about devotions, and spiritual growth, and how we don't necessarily read our Bibles and spend time with the Lord to learn new things, but to be reminded of who God is.
It is never too often to be reminded of the goodness, faithfulness, and love of the Lord.
I was humbled by this approach, realizing that I was missing out on a great opportunity of growth all because of my own pride!

Once I realized this, it was amazing the things that God brought to my attention.
The theme verses for the weekend were Joel 2:12-13
"Even now, declares the Lord, return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning. Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord you God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity."

While these verses are a great indicator of God's love, they are also a reminder of how we are to respond to that love-by returning to him with all of our hearts. I was very challenged to be guiding my heart towards the Lord as an act of response to His love.

It was overall a great weekend, and we even had a chance to take naps and go hiking to the mini waterfall:)

My SIL Holly trying to sneak a cuddle in...
Thank you Jesus for the great girlfriends you have blessed me with...yes, even Holly ;)

Don't forget to visit my friends and have a cup of coffee with them this sweet Friday :)
