Gender Reveal Party!!

At the last minute, Jimmy and I decided to throw together a little gender party! We wanted to celebrate  as soon as we found out! With the help of friends, we threw this together in less than a day and it was a lot of fun:)
We started off the night with some fun pink and blue snacks!
Is it a HE r' SHE?

We took votes on if people thought it was a boy or a girl! I even added a few of your votes from my Monday post:) Thanks for voting!

And then filled a cupcake pinata with pink candy, confetti, and necklaces for everyone to find out it was a girl! We had the kids pull the strings to reveal the gender:)

YAY!!!! I'm going to be a mommy to a little girl:) We can't wait!!!!

Mommy Moments Link Up

And we are back for our weekly Mommy Moments Link up! Thank you to everyone who participated last week. I LOVED reading all of your mommy moment posts. I learned a lot about what I have to look forward to in just a few short months!

The post with the most views from last week was 15 Week Baby Bump Update by Sarah at The Not Quite Military Wife
The Not Quite Military Wife
Sarah is just a few weeks behind me and blogging her pregnancy adventure the same way I am! Check out her sweet lil' baby bump:)

I'm sure Sarah would love you to follow along with her as well! Thanks for linking up Sarah!

Now here is my update for week 19! Can you believe I'm almost half way?

How far along: 19 weeks baby!

Movement:  Lots of movement in the past week...at least compared to not feeling anything for the last 18 weeks:)

Weight Gain:  I have gained a few pounds back...right around 116-117.

Maternity Clothes: No maternity clothes yet, but I do have to use a  hair tie to close a few of my jeans. I also ordered a couple pairs of belly bands from Baby Be Mine for $6.99 each! Pretty good deal, so for all of my preggo friends, make sure you check it out before they run out!

Stretch Marks:  None yet

Best moment of my week:  I was working on my computer and felt a the baby kicking a little, so I put my hand on my belly and pushed just a little. He/she kicked my hand right at that moment! It was the first time I've felt it on the outside! Now for Jimmy to feel it...

Worst moment: I hate crying. I hate crying by myself, in front of people, and even in front of my husband. Unfortunately, I've been blessed with a large amount of pregnant hormones that seem to trigger a lot more crying than I would prefer! I nearly cried through an entire movie this week...that's not fun at all!

Sleep:Well I had my first "hate my husband" dream! I guess they are pretty common for pregnant women. Mine was pretty silly actually, but I remember being really upset in my dream! When I woke up, I was still in love with him though, so we are all good.

Miss Anything: I miss being able to eat without worrying if I'm going to puke. I also miss my appetite.

Food Cravings: I finally got my doughnuts! I still really like popcorn, chocolate, and fruit.

Aversions: Food in general when I'm not feeling well

Gender Prediction:  We find out TODAY! Can you tell I'm excited?? I can't wait to let you all know;) Leave your gender prediction in the comments below, and I will tally them up before I reveal the gender!

Belly Button: I'm going to have a major outie before too long now...

Moody or Happy: Even though I hate to admit it, I've been pretty moody this week.

Looking Forward:  To finding out the gender this afternoon! Seriously. I can't wait!

Now it's your turn to link up with your Mommy Moments!

Friday Coffee Date

Sorry I'm a little late in dropping by for our coffee date today! Guess where I am right now? I'm sitting in a comfy chair with my feet propped up on a stool sipping a decaf caramel machiatto latte. Yumm!
Doesn't that make our date seem so much more real? If only you could really be drinking something yummy here with me too!
I don't have a Starbucks, or any other coffee shop in my little town, so this is an extra special treat for me! I actually garage saled my way to Evansville.
Why yes, I do believe garage saling is a method of travel.
Although, I will confess, I need to stop buying Christmas trees at garage sales. I keep finding one that is a better deal than the last! The one I got today is a brand new tree with the $300 tag still attached. I got it for $8.
Tell me that's not a good deal.
Or tell me I need therapy...both are probably true:)

I'm also excited to show you my new project I started this week...

They are a little difficult to see from the pictures, but it's the pearl ribbon wrap bracelets from Pinterest! I have been trying to find something new to put in my shop since I can't really spray paint my frames while I am preggers! I'm thinking these may be my new thing, and they are pretty easy to make! Would you buy one?

On a more serious note, remember the post I wrote earlier this week: How Do You Define Your Faith?
Well, ironically enough...God has really been testing my faith lately. You see, we have been house shopping for the past 6 months or so. Let me tell you friends, when you have a tight budget, a specific size, location, and you live in a small town, houses are not super easy to come by. It has been pretty discouraging going to look at house after house and watching them slip away because of someone else bidding or it not working out.
It's one thing for me to say I'm trusting God, and quite another for me to live that way, even when it comes to something like this. So pray for Jimmy and I that we will trust God to provide for us in HIS perfect timing.
I know that he will!

How can I pray for you this week? As always, if there's any way I can encourage or pray for you, don't hesitate to leave me a comment, or send me an e-mail!

P.S. Don't forget to visit my sweet friend Chrissy over at Boerman Ramblings as she shares some Friday Coffee with you as well!

How do you define faith?

Yes, I am talking about the word faith, not me Faith:)
Sometimes when a word or phrase is so commonly used, we forget the depth of meaning behind it.
As I have been praying about the purpose of my blog, and how God wants to use it, I realized that a big part of the heart behind my blog is found in my name. Faith.
My blog is a place where my I can share my life and as I share my life, my faith will shine through!

So what does it mean to have faith? A lot of people would define faith as a feeling. If you feel you believe something even without evidence of it's existence, then you have faith.
So if I say that I have faith in God and that He is in control, what happens if my feelings change one day, and I no longer feel that connection to God.
What happens when my circumstances change and I no longer feel as though God is taking care of me?

Faith should be constituted by more than the way we feel. It should be grounded in what we know to be true of God based on His word and His promises.

Hebrews 11:1
Now Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

The dictionary defines assurance as " A positive declaration intended to give confidence or certainty; a promise.

So faith is the promise, the confidence, the certainty....so much more than a feeling.

"Faith is something we own; it is ours. But we must do more than possess faith intellectually, we must own it in our hearts. Faith is not something to be reasoned from afar, but something we throw ourselves into-heart, mind and soul."
-Linda Dillow
I would dare to argue then that faith should be an action. Anyone can say they have faith, but very few actually live a life of faith.

The example Linda Dillow gives in her book Calm My Anxious Heart, is to imagine that you are in a crowd watching a man walk a tight rope across Niagara Falls. The man then proceeds to push a wheelbarrow across the tight rope. After his 5th trip across the falls, including one with a 200 lb dog in the barrow, he asks the crowd how many of you believe he could easily take a human across the falls in his wheelbarrow.
You are pretty sure he could do it, so you raise your hand along with the crowd to express your faith in this man. Then he points at you and tells you to "get in." At this point, do you really have faith in him and put your life in his hands, or do you walk away with just the feeling of faith?

"It's one thing to believe God can do something.
It's quite another to put yourself in a position of reliant trust."
                                                                     -Linda Dillow

I, myself, have been challenged to look at the way I live my life and ask if I truly live a life of faith or am just content with the feelings of faith. How much simpler life would be if we acted on our faith and put our lives in the hands of our creator, sustainer, the one who is far more capable of caring for us than we are for ourselves!

2 Corinthians 5:7
We live by faith not by sight.

Mommy Moments Linky Party

And we are back for week 2 of the Mommy Moments Link up! Thank you to everyone who participated last week. It was a great turn out for my first party:) I LOVED reading all of your mommy moment posts. I learned a lot about what I have to look forward to in just a few short months!

The post with the most views from last week was One of those days by Natassia at Nat's Knapsack

"This is what a bottle of baby powder looks like when in the hands on a toddler."
Thanks for linking up Natassia!

Now here is my update for week 18!

How far along: 18 weeks
Movement:  I felt the baby kick for the first time on Wednesday night! It has been the best part of being pregnant so far:) I LOVE it!
Weight Gain:  Still working on getting up to my pre-pregnancy weight. All that throwing up really threw me off. I'm getting there though!
Maternity Clothes:  I still haven't worn any maternity clothes yet. Although, I can't button all of my pants/shorts, I've been using the hair tie trick. It's worked out pretty well so far! I've been on the look out for deals though...
Stretch Marks:  None yet
Best moment of my week:  Feeling the baby kick
Worst moment: Now it's a funny story, but at the time it wasn't funny at all. I was applying to be a transcriber so I could make a little money from home. It required taking a 3 hour test copying down information from this recording.
Well, while I was copying the information down, my doctor called me about a breast feeding class. I immediately wrote the information down on the open document on my computer (the test) and intended on deleting it later. Well, I'm sure you can guess what happened. Yup! I sent in the test with all sorts of breast feeding information at the bottom. Don't think I'm going to get that job!

Sleep:  Not the same anymore! I wake up to pee at least once a night...and my dreams are pretty crazy lately!
Miss Anything:  caffeine and lunch meat...
Food Cravings: Popcorn, ice cream and chocolate....I should be gaining weight with all that right?
Aversions:  Anything when I'm nauseous
Gender Prediction:  We both think girl, but don't really have a good reason. We will know for sure next Monday!
Labor signs:  Nope
Belly Button: It's poppin' out:)
Rings:  On
Moody or Happy: This week I've been pretty stressed and frustrated with a lot going on. Over all though, I've been pretty happy!
Looking Forward:  Finding out if it's a boy or a girl next Monday. Stay tuned and I will let y'all know!

There you have it! That's my pregnancy in a nutshell. This week, I haven't had the chance to take a real baby bump picture, so I got creative and found this picture that shows off the bump just a little;) Gotta love them tractors!

Well, now it's your turn to link up with your Mommy Moments!

Friday Coffee Date

Hey friends! I'm so glad you stopped by this week for a nice cup of iced coffee and maybe a doughnut. Don't doughnuts sound great? I think that's what I'm craving today:)
If we were actually having coffee in person, you would probably be able to tell that there was something bothering me. I'm not very good at hiding my emotions! It's a horrible thing, really! I would like every once in a while to be able to keep my feelings to myself!
But because this is a time for me to share my heart, I will be honest with you. God has really been challenging my life this week-challenging me to get focused.
At the end of the day, I don't want to look back and feel as thought I've wasted a day. I want to be able to see how I've used it wisely for God's glory.
I fail at that.
Instead of measuring my success and accomplishment by eternal value, I tend to look at it from an earthly standpoint: How much money did I make today? What did I get done? How was I successful?
Those feelings of worth from making money or being accomplished and successful feel good, but they don't last.

I have been challenged to take my eyes off of the things of this world....the things that are so very distracting....and fix my eyes on Jesus. I need to measure my worth and my purpose by His standards, not the worlds.

Hebrews 12:2
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross scorning its shame and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

All this even applies to my blogging...but I will write more on that later;)

On a different note, I would like to brag for a second that I got to go on an awesome date last night with my amazing husband. I would have to argue that married dates are definitely better, and they are SO important! If we didn't set aside this time to have dinner together and just talk and spend quality time with each other, I know that our relationship would not be what it is today. I'm so thankful to the Lord for the godly husband He has blessed me with...it's a bonus that he plans great dates;)
Last night he took me to the little city of Vincennes. We ate at a little Italian Cafe that was absolutely adorable! Afterwards, we went to the historic park and walked around as the sun was setting. It was beautiful and just nice to relax and walk by the river. We had a great time!
So note to all you married women...don't give up on dating your hubby after you marry him! Dating only gets better as you get to know each other better:)

And this, friends, is where I would sit quietly sipping my coffee as you begin to share with me what your week was like, and how God is working in your life as well. Oh how I would love it if we actually got to talk in person and you could share with me what's going on in your world as well. As always, if there's any way I can encourage or pray for you, don't hesitate to leave me a comment, or send me an e-mail!

If God asked, would I say yes?

Some things are easier for me to write than others.
It's easy for me to write recipes, DIY tutorials, events from my week, and especially my baby bump updates.
Those are all pretty "safe" topics.
I'm the kind of girl who likes everyone to like me, and feeling disapproval from others makes me feel insecure.
However, I've been challenged lately to step out of my safe zone.
My blog is my ministry. I have a voice here that reaches over 3500 people a month! If all I'm posting is recipes, crafts, and the latest photos, then I'm failing at what God has called me to do.

Every time I sit down to write about something God is teaching me, or to take a stand on a controversial topic, I seem to back down.
I don't feel qualified.
Who do I think I am that I should be writing about such things?

Tonight as I was praying about this, I read in Isaiah 6...
"Woe to me!" I cried, " I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.
Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with a tongs from the altar. With it he touched my  mouth and said, "See this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for."
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, " Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said,  "Here am I. Send me."

In my own "Faith version", this is what these verses meant to me.

I am a sinner. I mess up over and over again. I am an inadequate woman. I have seen who God is and what He has done, but who am I to be sharing that?
Then God reached down, and in His infinite love and wisdom reminded me that I am weak but He is strong. I am a sinner, but he is the sin forgiver. In His eyes, I am guilt free and my sins are not held against me.
And then I heard God ask me, "who will be my voice? Who will let me use their life?"

God uses imperfect people.
I want God to use me. What about you?

Mommy Moments Linky Party!

I am so excited to have you join me this Monday for my first EVER Linky Party! I've started writing my baby bump updates every Monday and thought it would be great if you could join me in sharing all of your "mom" posts from the week!
Photobucket

Mommy Moment Link Up Posts could include:

-A pregnancy Post
-Kid crafts or recipes
-Your thoughts on mommyhood:)
-Things you are learning about/as a result of being a mom
-Your frustrations as a mom
-Funny mom stories
-Mommy/Kid photos

So basically any post you have written that involves being a mom will count! I can't wait to see what you all share:)

And now, here's my update for the week!
What was my favorite thing about week 16? Putting together my baby box. I decided it was time to find a place to put all the sweet little baby things I've gotten the past few months. I cleaned out a wooden chest in the spare bedroom and put all the little onesies, blankets, toys, and books that I have so far. It all looks so baby! I love it!

I also love looking at myself in the mirror and being able to SEE that I'm pregnant! I'm sure I am starting to annoy Jimmy every time I say
"Look at me babe! I look pregnant!"

What has been my least favorite thing? The puking has returned. I strongly dislike that! But hey-if that's the worst thing I have to deal with, then I'm thanking God for it:)

What am I craving? Chocolate and Popcorn! I feel like these are pretty normal cravings right? I'm so past the sour dough bread phase...

What foods make me sick? Hamburgers, onions, green peppers (I know this because I made fajitas this week...not a happy ending there).

Other random things about my 15th week:
-Every morning when I wake up, I feel like I've been working out-all my muscles are stiff and what not. And let's be honest, Faith has not been working out! I do my prenatal Pilates every day, but that's barely strenuous!
-My pregnancy brain is very entertaining to my hubby! The other night we were having a conversation and I made the statement.
"You know I'm true!" instead of "You know I'm right"!
I don't even know how these things come out of my mouth!

What I'm looking forward to:
Feeling my baby move. I sometimes sit real still and try to feel something...but I haven't felt it yet!
Finding out if it's a he or a she on July 30th! I can't wait!!
Oh and even thought this isn't really pregnancy related, we are going to look at a house tonight! Pray it's the one! I'm ready to start on that baby room:)
