32 weeks!

Man the weeks are flying by! I am starting to get anxious and excited for the big day. My doctor said as early as December 2, I'm good to go. That's only 6 weeks away! AHHHH!

This weekend, Jimmy and I had a costume party to go to. My husband HATES dressing up, so we came up with something clever to accommodate my pregnant belly and his hate for costumes.
Guess what we were? It's kind of a mind teaser;)

Thanks for all your great advice on finding a pediatrician. I think I have finally made my decision but I haven't met with her yet. She is actually a family doctor that many of my friends see and she also practices alternative medicine which I love. I am all for trying natural remedies before the drugs! She will take our baby as a new patient if hubby or I are an existing patient. I guess I need to find something wrong with me to go visit the doctor for!

Now for this week's big topic! I have had some major swelling in my hands, feet, and legs. What are some natural ways to keep that from happening?
What is the best way to keep swelling down during pregnancy?

How far along: 32 weeks! The weeks went by so slowly at first and now I can't get them to slow down. I feel like I need more time to get ready!

Movement: She moves a lot after I eat and for several hours in the evening. She gets the hiccups 3-4x a day which I think is adorable!

Weight Gain: about 15 pounds

Maternity Clothes: I'm loving my sweaters that stretch and sweater dresses! They work out so well for the baby bump:)

Best moment of my week: We have a bassinet in our room now! Yes siree. Our baby girl now officially has a place to sleep if she decides to come early. Ahhhh it makes it so much more real to see that thing in our bedroom!

Worst moment of my week: Well this wasn't this week, but a couple weeks ago now, I woke up with the WORST pain in my lower leg. I mean it was super painful! I've had cramping in my legs a few other nights, but this was crying out loud pain. Yep-I had my first charlie horse. It was horrible, but I survived! Did anyone else get their first charlie horse during pregnancy? I had never had one before!

Sleep: It's off and on. Lately I have been really nauseous and swollen at night. No fun!

Miss Anything: I miss being able to bend over to pick things up or clean the floor etc...It feels like something gets pinched when I lean over now. I guess that's evidence of my belly growing!

Cravings: I haven't really had any one craving specifically, although I did randomly crave pancakes one evening, so I just went and made myself a big stack. Yumm!

Aversions: Eggs

Gender: She is still a girl! You can read about our gender reveal party here!

Belly Button: Popping out! I wonder if it will go back in normally?

Labor Signs:  My Braxton Hicks have actually been more painful lately and sometimes pretty frequent. How do you tell the difference between a Braxton Hicks and an actual contraction?

Symptoms: I've had a lot of swelling lately. I'm not sure if I should take my rings off or not. When my hands swell, I can't get them off but they aren't swollen all the time.

Moody or Happy: Excited to be headed to Minnesota soon!!

Looking Forward: I am looking forward to our trip to Minnesota, and I am also looking forward to getting the crib, dresser, and changing table together in the baby room. I don't think it's all going to fit, but we need to give it a go!

Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake Bread

Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake Bread

Here’s what you need for the cheesecake topping:
8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
1 egg lightly beaten
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Mix all of the above ingredients together until smooth and creamy. Set aside.

Here’s what you need for the Pumpkin Spice batter:
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
3/4 cup canned pumpkin
2 tablespoons grape seed oil (that’s the healthy stuff;)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
¼ tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice

Preheat the oven to 350. Grease 3 mini loaf pans.  Mix the brown sugar and eggs together and then add the pumpkin, oil and vanilla. Set aside.
Mix the dry ingredients together in a separate bowl and then add to the pumpkin mixture. Mix together and then divide evenly among the 3 greased loaf pans.
Divide the cheesecake batter on top of the batter in the 3 loaf pans and smooth evenly.
Bake about 40 minutes or until golden and knife inserted in center comes out clean.
Serve warm, or let cool and package as a great housewarming gift or a Fall treat for the neighbors!

Bloggers for Birth Kits

The Mommyhood Memos Bloggers for Birth Kits
I came across this organization earlier this morning and because I am only 2 months away from going through the process of childbirth, it really struck home for me.

What if I didn't have biweekly checkups to see my baby on an ultrasound?
What if I had no educated doctor telling me everything was ok?
What if I had no clean place to give birth?
What if I wasn't even sure if I would survive childbirth?

How would I be feeling then?

For the past 7 months, I have been preparing for my due date. I have done my best to ensure that my daughter's birth is as comfortable, easy, and as well-planned out as possible. I have a birth plan in progress for how I WANT everything to go. My worries have to do with pain or my lack of comfort, not if my baby or I will survive.
Yes, I realize there is always the possibility of death in childbirth, but in America, we are blessed beyond comparison to have educated doctors and nurses, clean facilities, and an excess of proper equipment necessary for giving birth.

So really, I don't have a lot to worry about when it comes to giving birth. I can enjoy all of these moments in my pregnancy leading up to the day where I will meet my sweet baby girl!

Not every woman has that opportunity.

In rural Papua New Guinea 1 in 7 women die in childbirth and that rate is simply unacceptable.
Now I realize that Papua New Guinea is not the only place where this is an issue, but the fact of the matter is, there are plenty of resources in the world to help these mothers and babies… they just need to be collected and redistributed.
bloggers for birth kits volunteer handing out birth kits

This is where you and I come in.

Bloggers for Birth Kits is a simple initiative to rally bloggers (and friends of bloggers) to reach out and help mamas in Papua New Guinea. These women may seem very different to you… but they are mothers with the same heart – mothers who desire to deliver healthy, thriving babies just as we do.
The Mommyhood Memos Bloggers for Birth Kits
What can you do?
1. Make a birth kit. Assemble one yourself or gather a group of girlfriends, a moms group, work associates, or a church group to make a box full of them! Mail your kits to: Adriel Booker, Bloggers for Birth Kits, PO Box 6221, Townsville, Queensland, 4810, Australia. We will distribute the kits in some of the poorest regions of Papua New Guinea on our Medical Ship.
[FAQ page is here!]
2. Donate for a birth kit to be made on your behalf. ($10 will buy 5 kits!) All donations for B4BK go toward the assembly and distribution of birth kits, as well as maternal care education. Make your online donation here. Please be sure to write Bloggers for Birth Kits in the “additional comments” box so the funds will be allocated properly.

3. Help raise awareness by posting about the cause on your blog, facebook, pinterest, and twitter (using #B4BirthKits), or add the Bloggers for Birth Kits button to your blog.
(You can visit Adriel's blog for more information on donating or creating your own birth kits.)

Now instead of sitting around in my own selfishness of how I WANT my birth to go, I am reminded of how blessed I am to even have the option of giving birth in a clean environment, and I am grateful for the opportunity to spread the word so others can be aware as well!

I hope you will have a heart for these women and help them in some way if you can!
Remember, even if you can't help physically or financially that you can be praying for these moms all over the world, not just for their physical needs, but for their spiritual salvation as well.

31 weeks!

Wow has it been a busy week! Technically I am now almost 32 weeks, but we'll just pretend this post wasn't so late;)

The baby shower was great! I am blessed to have so many friends and family.
Here are just a few photos of me with my friends Nicole and Kristyn!
We played a few games, ate some good food opened gifts, and mostly just hung out and had a great time together!
I will write a post about it soon...if my life ever slows down:)

I spent most of Monday in town for my checkup appointment. Everything is looking great so far. That is always nice to hear!
I did my pre-registration at the hospital on Tuesday. It was awesome to get all that taken care of beforehand for sure. It did freak me out just a little bit talking about my living will and all of that. I know that very few women die in childbirth anymore, but still, talking about it is a little scary!
This week's agenda is to find a pediatrician! The one that I wanted to go with is not able to take me anymore so I'm on the hunt for a new one.
Any suggestions on how to go pediatrician hunting?
How did you choose your child's pediatrician?
How far along31 weeks! I love how my bellybutton is starting to show in my photos now! I can't poke it back in!

Movement: Every night about 10:00 she starts kicking, punching, and rolling like nobody's business. I want to see if I can capture it on video one of these times. I love it so long as she doesn't kick my ribs or my bladder!

Weight Gain: about 15 pounds

Maternity Clothes: I found a few maternity shirts at a garage sale that will work perfectly! It's crazy how expensive maternity clothes are new, so I get excited when I find a deal:)

Best moment of my week: Definitely the baby shower! It was fun having all of my friends together. Sweet pea got lots of cute clothes and things too! I can't wait to show you all!

Worst moment of my week: Well my nausea has returned! My doctor told me that's pretty normal for Hyperemesis Gravidarum to get worse in the 3rd trimester. I guess that just gives me one more reason to look forward to my baby girl being born (not that I need anymore reasons, I can't wait to meet her:)!

Sleep: Sometimes I sleep fine, other nights not so much!

Miss Anything: I miss being able to move around like I used to. I get tired doing things like folding laundry now! I hate napping too...I have so much to get done that naps seem like a waste of time! I know I need to change that mentality though.

Cravings: Lately I've been wanting raspberries and of course chocolate!

Aversions: I ate an egg this morning! It wasn't because I wanted to or felt like it though. It was disgusting to me, but I know they are really good for me to be eating so I forced it down. You should be proud!

Gender: She is still a girl! You can read about our gender reveal party here!

Belly Button: See above photo...it's there!

Labor Signs:  I have several Braxton Hicks a day...kinda annoying but I know they are a good thing and preparing me for labor!

Moody or Happy: Happy

Looking Forward: Next weekend I will be in Minnesota visiting my family! I cannot wait! I think there will be snow on the ground too which is even better:) I'm not as excited about the 12 hour car drive, but I know it will be worth it.

My Favorite Finds
About

Meet Carrie from My Favorite Finds!

1. How long have you been blogging?--I've been blogging for almost two years on My Favorite Finds, but for almost 7 on my personal family blog.
2. What is your favorite thing to write about?--My favorite thing to write about is almost everything :).  That is why my blog is named "My Favorite Finds".  It gives me lots of room to share recipes, crafts, and organization tips.
3. What is the inspiration behind your blog?--I started my blog of recipes, crafts, etc., because I didn't want to "clutter" my family blog with all that stuff.  It's more of a journal of our family, and I wanted to share my ideas with others but not share EVERYTHING about my family with them.
4. What are three quirky things about you?--I cannot start my day without taking a shower, I never read a book more than once, and I don't like to wear socks.
5. What is your favorite thing about the fall season?--All the pumpkin recipes.  I get a little baking obsessed in the fall.

Carrie is generously giving away a premium ad spot on her blog for the month of January!

P.S. Carrie is having a BOGO ad space offer for November/December. When you buy one ad, she will send you a code for an additional free month!

Bella
Most of you have already met Elisabeth from La Vita E Bella. If you didn't get the chance, check out her sweet guest post on falling in love that she wrote on The Life Of Faith earlier this week!

1. How long have you been blogging? Really for just over a year. Technically for almost 2.
2. What is your favorite thing to write about? Romance, love, and life as a newlywed.
3. What is the inspiration behind your blog? I just share our story. I find the beauty in the everyday and hope by sharing it I encourage others to do the same.
4. What are three quirky things about you? I was born in Tokyo, I finger spell words when I'm concentrating, and I sleep with a down comforter 12 months a year.
5. What is your favorite thing about the fall season? I love the layers, but really I anticipate the baking. Scents of pumpkin, cider, hot chocolate, any kind of chocolate, its heaven.

Elisabeth is giving away two months small adspace on her blog!

The Denny Buzz
Meet Brittany from The Denny Buzz!

The Denny Buzz is all about the daily buzz of our family of three...from our weekend adventures, to cooking with new recipes, making crafts, and more!

1.  The Denny Buzz was started in May 2010!  Seems just like yesterday!!  I was an off/on blogger at first but really started being a consistent blogger when I was pregnant.
2.  I love writing about our daughter and the fun adventures we get to have with her!
3.  My amazing husband and daughter are my inspiration.  Even though I can't fully express in words how much they truly mean to me, blogging about the two of them and our special times together is so much fun!
4.  Three things that are quirky about me....(1) I can't stand to be barefoot at home!  If my shoes are off then you will find me with socks on!  Although I did enjoy being barefoot when I was pregnant, go figure!  (2) I don't like cheese!  I love queso but can't stand any other variation of cheese!  (3) I don't like for different kinds of food on my plate to touch!  They must all be separate
5.  I love fall candles!  To me fall starts when my husband and I go buy a fresh new fall-scented candle!  This years is Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin from Bath & Body Works!

Brittany is giving away 2 months of large 200x200 ad space at the Denny Buzz!

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
