Touches of Easter (Guest Post)

Hello! I'm Deborah and I'm popping over from A Delightful Glow to share with you on The Life of Faith today. Thanks Faith, for featuring me!

I'm sharing a peek at the few touches of Easter decor that I graced our home with last week. I really enjoy Easter, and spring is at the top of my list for favorite season. Spring is just pretty in southwest Kansas. The winter wheat greens up and starts growing. The blue, blue sky and sunshine invite you to come outside and party. I love it. I visited Kansas every year in the springtime, when I was dating my husband. I loved it then, too. I know that all plays into my love for spring. Nevertheless, the days just seem cheerier and more motivating, with warmer temperatures and longer daylight hours.  DSC_1798

Flowers that a friend brought me! They make a great backdrop for the Easter baskets. Another postcard, my detailed Easter egg that I love, love, love! It came from Andrea Singarella's shop a few years ago. She still sells some things, but has scaled down a lot. And my guest book!

I have this springy swag, so I decked the top of my china cupboard with it to add a little color and flair! Dressed for spring! And another postcard in the holder/hanger. DSC_1793
A touch of festive on my kitchen island! DSC_1806
A cross and a crown of thorns. A very visual reminder of everything that Easter is. DSC_1808
I tucked this Easter sign in the half bath with the other sign that is in there all the time.
Another facet to our Easter, is sending out Easter cards to friends and family. I started doing this, several years ago, instead of Christmas cards. The idea was not original with me, but when I heard it I instantly loved it. My children's birthdays are in January and I have their photos taken sometime in the vicinity. Usually, I didn't have them taken in time to send in Christmas cards, but it seemed silly to have photos that needed sent out a month later. The Easter card idea worked perfectly for me. It gave me plenty of time to get photos ready AND it made one less thing to get done at Christmastime. We often travel to visit family around Christmas, plus the usual family get-togethers here at home. I've loved doing it this way. It sounds a little silly, but I think it has also let me focus on Easter a little more. Preparing for something lends time for meditation and consideration and thought about what you are getting ready for and celebrating. DSC_1801
Matthew 28:5-7
Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. And now, go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Remember what I have told you.”

Wishing you a Blessed Easter!

I enjoy taking pictures! If you stop by A Delightful Glow, you will find a lot of photos. Editing and uploading and posting, takes some time, but it is a very big part of my blog about family and farm. We are very ordinary and most of the time we are thankful for the everyday, simple things of life. We'd love to have you visit!
