Sweet Pea is 3 months old!

Age: 3 months old!
Weight: About 14 pounds

(I don't have exact numbers this month because we didn't have a doctors appointment!)
Right around 9 weeks you had a growth spurt and most of your 0-3 month clothes didn't fit you anymore:( Problem is that I thought you were going to be a small baby so all of your 3-6 month clothes are summer dresses. It's still cold outside! So I've had to do a little baby clothes shopping which I don't mind at all! I think you have cuter clothes than I do now:)
Milestones:
You started sleeping most of the night which is one of my favorite milestones;)
You also started playing with toys. I was excited, but sad at the same time. I love that you are growing up but I want you to stay little too!
This is your favorite toy for sure:
It must taste pretty good because it's always in your mouth!
You haven't quite figured out crawling yet, but you are learning to scoot yourself forward when you want to get somewhere...
I love your beautiful blue eyes. We are starting to wonder if they will stay that way!
You have also started sitting up leaned forward on your own. We never really leave you like that because you are a little wobbly still!
Sometimes when I go in your room to get you from your nap, you are doing little crunches trying to sit up! Here's a little video clip of you in your swaddle trying to sit up!
I'm gonna have to keep an eye on you from now on!
At about 10 weeks you started holding yourself up on your legs. Now all you want to do when you are being held is stand up! I guess it makes you feel like a big kid:)

Sleep:
You have been sleeping great at night!  You usually fight it to start with...sometimes for up to an hour which isn't fun, but we usually put you to bed around 8PM and then you sleep without waking up until around 3-4. That's like 8 hours baby! Thank you:) Then you are up for the day again around 8AM.
Nap times are a different story. You are so hard to get to sleep! Even in your swaddle, you arch your back, throw yourself and scream your little head off. I usually end up holding you while you are crying until you finally drift off...sometimes with a pouty lip. You look so cute!
Sometimes you will fall asleep in the car while we are driving. The other day, while we were driving, you put the corner of your blanket bear to cover your eyes from the bright sunshine haha. You are one clever baby:)
When you wake up in the morning you like to have a chat with mom on the big chair in your room. I lean you up against my knees facing me and you tell me all sorts of things, and I love watching and listening to you! Your stories get pretty animated sometimes. I can't wait until you can really talk to me!
Best Moments:
The best moments with you are when you talk to us. You can be quite the little chatterbox, and it's so fun to interact with you and watch your expressions as you try so hard to talk!
I took you on your first road trip to visit Matt and Nicole!
You had a great time and met your first puppy too:)

We took you on a little walk too, but it was so cold that it didn't last long!
We took you on your first overnight trip to visit them just a couple weeks later and you did great! You even fell asleep in church without crying...which you have NEVER done before!
You love your Aunt Nicole!
Worst Moments: We tried to take you to Buffalo Wild Wings and that was the first and last time you will be in that place in a while. I guess the noise and TV screens freaked you out because I couldn't get you to stop screaming for an hour!
The worst moment by far was last week when you screamed in the middle of the night. Just one single scream. It sounded like something from a horror movie. We had all been sleeping and when we picked you up, you were still asleep too! Has this happened to anyone else? I don't think I have ever been so scared. I thought something had happened to you, but you were just fine! We make sure to pray over you every night now that God will keep you safe and that you won't be afraid. I think God is trying to teach us to trust you with Him. He can take better care of you than we can.
Health: A little congestion here and there but otherwise you are very healthy. We praise Jesus for that! I think we've just about made it through flu season without the flu!
Eating Habits: You have been eating pretty consistently at about every 3 hours. It's nice to know what to expect now! At night when you wake up from a good chunk of sleep, you are so hungry that you about choke yourself to death eating! I'm glad you have a good appetite. One thing I think is hilarious is that if I sneeze or cough while I'm feeding you, you unlatch, look up at me and cry like I scared you or something. It's pretty cute:)
Special Memories:
You love your daddy! He's always playing with you, changing your diaper, praying with you before bed, and even getting up with you in the morning when you've already eaten. You are a lucky baby girl!
You especially love it when he reads books to you!
I don't think Jimmy and I laughed half as much as we do now thanks to you The other night we had you in your highchair with us at the dinner table and you had us laughing so hard that we were choking on our food! You make these hilarious faces at us and then laugh, squeal and babble on and on. It's got to be the most adorable thing!

You still love your bath time!
and of course the snuggles afterwards!
At Bible study a few weeks back, we found you snuggled up with your new little buddy Mariah. You seem to love hanging out with other kids:)
We've been successfully cloth diapering you for almost 2 months now! We just use them when we are home and put a disposable on you for going places. I've been using Grovia mainly and then a few other brands that our friend Jamie loaned us to try!
I figure we are saving about $10 a week, not to mention, they are pretty cute...and so are you:)
You have an obsession with screens! Doesn't matter if it's the TV, computer or phone...you will turn your head as far as you can to see it haha!
We had our first family fishing trip this month!
You got to fish with mom in the carrier:)
We didn't catch anything but we sure had a fun afternoon!
Last but not least, we love all the sweet faces that you make, and just have to share them with the world. Here are just a few of them...

I can't wait for month 4 with my beautiful Sweet Pea. You make being a mom the best job in the world:)

Touches of Easter (Guest Post)

Hello! I'm Deborah and I'm popping over from A Delightful Glow to share with you on The Life of Faith today. Thanks Faith, for featuring me!

I'm sharing a peek at the few touches of Easter decor that I graced our home with last week. I really enjoy Easter, and spring is at the top of my list for favorite season. Spring is just pretty in southwest Kansas. The winter wheat greens up and starts growing. The blue, blue sky and sunshine invite you to come outside and party. I love it. I visited Kansas every year in the springtime, when I was dating my husband. I loved it then, too. I know that all plays into my love for spring. Nevertheless, the days just seem cheerier and more motivating, with warmer temperatures and longer daylight hours.  DSC_1798

Flowers that a friend brought me! They make a great backdrop for the Easter baskets. Another postcard, my detailed Easter egg that I love, love, love! It came from Andrea Singarella's shop a few years ago. She still sells some things, but has scaled down a lot. And my guest book!

I have this springy swag, so I decked the top of my china cupboard with it to add a little color and flair! Dressed for spring! And another postcard in the holder/hanger. DSC_1793
A touch of festive on my kitchen island! DSC_1806
A cross and a crown of thorns. A very visual reminder of everything that Easter is. DSC_1808
I tucked this Easter sign in the half bath with the other sign that is in there all the time.
Another facet to our Easter, is sending out Easter cards to friends and family. I started doing this, several years ago, instead of Christmas cards. The idea was not original with me, but when I heard it I instantly loved it. My children's birthdays are in January and I have their photos taken sometime in the vicinity. Usually, I didn't have them taken in time to send in Christmas cards, but it seemed silly to have photos that needed sent out a month later. The Easter card idea worked perfectly for me. It gave me plenty of time to get photos ready AND it made one less thing to get done at Christmastime. We often travel to visit family around Christmas, plus the usual family get-togethers here at home. I've loved doing it this way. It sounds a little silly, but I think it has also let me focus on Easter a little more. Preparing for something lends time for meditation and consideration and thought about what you are getting ready for and celebrating. DSC_1801
Matthew 28:5-7
Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. And now, go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Remember what I have told you.”

Wishing you a Blessed Easter!

I enjoy taking pictures! If you stop by A Delightful Glow, you will find a lot of photos. Editing and uploading and posting, takes some time, but it is a very big part of my blog about family and farm. We are very ordinary and most of the time we are thankful for the everyday, simple things of life. We'd love to have you visit!
