Visiting Chicago

For our 3rd wedding anniversary we had been planning on camping over the weekend. Unfortunately, Jimmy's great grandma passed away earlier that week so we headed out on Wednesday evening for her memorial service and funeral. Since the funeral was less than an hour from Chicago, we decided to spend a little time there before heading for our weekend trip.  Neither us had ever spent any time in Chicago before, and even though our time was limited, we had a blast at Lake Michigan beach and in the city!
Here are some photos of our time there!

She thought being buried was the funniest thing!
Our view walking towards the Willis Tower
The view from the top of the tower was breath taking!

They were the first to venture out on the glass floor. It made me so nervous. But apparently not too nervous to take a picture of them!

We all made it out on the glass floor for a family picture....after which Jimmy pretended the thing was falling and about gave me a heart attack!
Isn't it amazing?
I just love the concept of her little toddler self looking over this huge city!
Although vacationing with a toddler has it's challenges (don't ask me how our walk on the street went!), it is so much fun to be able to share these moments with our daughter.

The city and beach shoreline
For the first few hours we were in Chicago, I kept thinking how nice it would be to live in a big city. Everything is so close, you can just walk where you need to go!
But after a few hours of noise, traffic, and high prices, I was cured of my envy for city-life and ready to be back gardening in my quiet neighborhood.

It was a fun start to our very adventurous anniversary weekend which I will share with you tomorrow!

  3. I just moved from Chi area to California and this makes me miss it tons! I never got to check out the new glass floors at the Willis before I left. I can't wait to go back to visit and take my son there. That view and your pictures are amazing! So glad you enjoyed the city and it looks like it was a beautiful day!
