Blogging When You Are A Busy Mom

And we are back with week 7 of the One Year and Beyond Link Up!  The last five weeks have been great! We have covered:
Taming The Tantrums,

If you missed them, make sure you back track and check them out!

This week we are talking about finding the time to blog in the busyness of motherhood.

I have had several people make comments in the past about how I must have a lot of time on my hands since I blog. Please excuse me for a moment while I laugh and assure you that is not the case!
If I could put time on my Christmas list, I would. Trust me!

Between nannying, working for Allie Ruth Design, managing my own Etsy shop, and Blogging, I have to manage my time pretty strictly. So where do I fit blogging into all that, and why do it if time is so limited?

Well, I want to emphasize before I go any further, that the most important job I have right now is to be a loving wife and mother. Blogging is actually pretty far down on my list of priorities. I know it's important for me to spend time with my daughter during the day, keep our home orderly, and be a helper to my husband. Everything else comes after all that!

I am fighting against a culture that is constantly encouraging everyone to "follow your dreams" and "put yourself first". While there's nothing wrong with chasing a dream, there is something wrong with putting my own success and dreams above caring for my family. There are many successful bloggers, designers, and teachers out there, but I am the only one who can be wife to my hubby and mommy to my daughter and I pray that I am a better mother and wife than I am blogger!

I actually started this blog as a personal outlet for my thoughts. I express myself better through writing than any other way, and so I started blogging. As I began to share my heart, I realized that God was calling me to share it openly with other moms, wives, and daughters so that they could identify with me and be encouraged through my struggles, joys and triumphs!

If I were blogging for money, I wouldn't be doing it anymore. If I were blogging for publicity, I would definitely stop wasting my time. I blog because I love sharing my heart with my readers, and knowing that my experiences are helping other wives and moms out there. I love it when I know I've touched someone else's life with mine. It makes the time spent well worth it!

If something is important to me, I make time for it! I wrote a post a few months ago called Why I Share My Life where I talk about why blogging is important to me! It's not just about sharing my life, it's about giving God the glory through my experiences.

Most of my blogging is done during nap time, or in the evening. My little shadow doesn't like it much when I'm on my computer! If I'm in the middle of my day and get a sudden inspiration for a post, sometimes I  log on my computer and quickly type out my ideas. Then I later refine the post, add pictures, and schedule a day for publishing! Often I have 3-4 posts that I'm editing and adding to at the same time!

Since my daughter was born, I don't believe I've ever written a post in just one sitting. It's always bits and pieces thrown together in between diaper changes, meal time, house cleaning, nap time and sewing projects. It's not always easy, but it's something I love to do! And I love connecting with other mamas all over the world. It's an amazing experience!

It's through blogging that I have met all these wonderful mamas below sharing their blogging stories with you today as well. I can't wait to hear how all you mamas schedule in your blogging time!

  1. Thanks for opening your heart for all of us moms out there! Great post! Also...thanks for hosting a great link up!

  2. It really isn't about having the time, it's about making the time. Besides that, being a mom offers a lot of topics to blog about.

  3. I totally agree with the comment above - you find time in life for the things you want, you don't necessarily just have the time laying around though... I also see blogging as something my daughter (16mnth) can do with me... I take her to new places and while I'm taking the pictures we both get to discover it together.

  4. I love this post. I love the example you set by being honest about your priorities and explaining why being a mother and wife is so much more important! I totally agree.

I am a new blogger and am so grateful to have found your page! Thank you for the list of other great women to check out as well!

Your comments bring a smile to my face! Thanks for visiting my blog :)
