A second trimester update!

I am so excited to start updating you all on this pregnancy, although I'm afraid that it's already been more difficult to keep up with bump photos and pregnancy details with a busy two year old hanging around. I will do what I can! For now, here is how this pregnancy has been so far as I approach the 20 week mark. Halfway there already!

How Far Along? 19 weeks and a few days (photo from 17 weeks)

Movement?
I thought I was losing my mind, but right around 14 weeks I started to feel little flutters and nudges. I kept telling myself I was imagining it but it started to get more regular that I'm confident I am feeling my baby! God knew I needed that daily reassurance that my baby was doing well! Now I feel very strong kicks and rolls from this little ninja ever day. Even my hubby has gotten to feel some little kicks already. This is one of my favorite parts of being pregnant!

Morning Sickness: Many of you probably remember my battle with Hyperemesis Gravidarum with Kaleigh and are curious how it's been this time around. It started off pretty rough this time as well and I chose not to take Zofran again because of the class action lawsuit against it. Instead, my doctor recommended a new morning sickness remedy formulated especially for pregnant women called Diclegis. The only issue with it was cost at over $300 a fill. Thankfully my amazing doctor  told me how to make it myself for a fraction of the cost and it has helped me even more than Zofran did with Kaleigh. Praise the Lord for that! Although I haven't thrown up nearly as much this time around, I still feel nauseous most of the time, especially in the evenings which is no fun, but I'm grateful for the hormones keeping my baby healthy!

Weight Gain: I have already gained around 8-10 pounds which is great for me considering how hard it was for me to gain weigh with my first!

Clothes: I can still button a few of my jeans, but they are getting pretty snug. Shirts are also getting a little too short to hide my growing bump! I have started wearing some maternity shorts/jeans and shirts these days, no shame! There's just no sense in being uncomfortable!

Best Moment of my week: Feeling my baby move around and K wanting to give the baby kisses.

Worst moment of my week:   My evenings are pretty rough as I typically just feel exhausted and sick. My poor hubby sees the worst of me every evening or doesn't see me at all as it's sometimes easier to just go to bed early than be miserable!

Sleep: If my two year old sleeps through the night, I am still sleeping well...if she doesn't, I don't!

Miss Anything: Energy. Enough said!

Cravings: Kettle corn, Mandarin oranges, fruit, salty snacks and cold drinks

Aversions: Boiled eggs, sometimes chicken, and salad.

Belly Button: Sorta starting to pop

Other Symptoms: I've had some pretty bad lower back pain and sciatic nerve pain already that my doctor is having me go to physical thereby for. My SI joint was out of place causing one of my legs to be longer than the other and messing everything up from there. I visit my physical therapist twice a week and it seems to be healing already which is great!

Mood: Tired but so grateful for this growing life inside of me. Every day that goes by, I am thankful for the time God has given me with this sweet baby.

Looking Forward: We have the anatomy ultrasound scan TODAY to find out if we are having a boy or a girl. I can't wait! I would love to hear your predictions on if this baby is a boy or a girl!

Dear baby,

My heart is full, knowing that God, the great Creator is knitting you together inside of me. It's amazing that I can feel you moving already when you are still so tiny. You have already taught me much about trust as I'm learning to commit your life even now into the hands of the one who is forming you. I can't wait to meet you, to hold you, cuddle you and show you how much you are loved. There's also a certain two year old out here who is pretty anxious to meet you and cover you with snuggles and kisses. You have a wonderful daddy as well who is taking such good care of you already by taking care of me! We thank the Lord for you and pray for you every day!

Love, mama

  1. I've had the same issue trying to keep up with baby bump related things this time around. A two adds do much to the equation lol! I was 30 weeks yesterday and oh what a blessing. Like you I stated feeling baby much earlier and I'm thankful to God. I had some issues beginning at 10 weeks so the reassurance was a blessing. I'm so excited for you!

  2. Yay babies! I love pregnancy updates. :) And I agree, the best part of pregnancy is feeling those tiny kicks and flutters! You look great and I'm kind of jealous you can still button some of your jeans... by 20 weeks my jeans were a distant dream and I was embracing the maternity clothes. :)
