However, Rebekah is able to share from a perspective of hope in God as He truly is the great healer of broken bodies and hearts. Thank you for sharing your testimony of grace and hope with us, Rebekah!

Say "yes" to tea parties

I have what seems like a million things on my "to do" list right now. Not only is it Christmastime with shopping to do, gifts to wrap, and things to decorate, but I am also knee deep in glitter from DIY decorations for my daughter's 3rd birthday party this weekend. Seriously, there is glitter everywhere in my house right now.

Oh, and I don't have a housekeeper or a cook, so there's that too.

So when my 3 month old went down for a nap (not as easy as it sounds, I promise!), I began to eye my dirty dishes, grimy floor and piles of stuff that somehow just congregate around my house. I actually felt the energy to clean up, which is rare after an interrupted night of sleep for me.

And then my two year old said "mommy, will you have a tea party with me?"

Clearly, she doesn't see the piles of stuff, the dirty dishes, the pieces of food lying under the kitchen table, so I started to explain to her all of the things that I needed to get done.

And then I stopped. My spunky little two year old with blonde curls and those grey eyes is growing up. She's turning three. Three doesn't seem that old except it was just yesterday she turned two. She can put on her own clothes now, and reach the faucet handles to wash her hands. I realized that there's only so many tea parties we can squeeze into these years.

I brewed the tea while she set out the little pink cups.

There was nothing photogenic about our tea party. The table had crumbs and spilled milk. Piles of stuff still sat in the background.

But this.

My sweet girl was so excited to be drinking tea with her mama. I actually had tears in my eyes thinking about what I could have missed. Then out of nowhere she said,

"Thank you for having a tea party with me mama"

It was as if she knew this was a big deal. She sees me running like a crazy woman trying to get laundry folded, dinner on the table and the baby fed every day. But I think we both knew that this was a moment that mattered.

To think I could have missed it.

I made a deal with her that she has to have tea parties with me until I die which she of course thought was a great idea.

I'm holding her to that, and I plan to say yes to as many tea parties as I can.

3 months with our little guy!

Happy 3 months to our sweet boy!

Weight: 16 pounds

Milestones
He found out how much fun it is to suck on his little fists this month. Anything and everything that he can grab goes directly into his mouth now (sister's hair included)!

This month we also got to hear a lot more of this sweet little voice talking, cooing, giggling and all sorts of adorableness! This morning he started laughing about the water splashing him in the bath and he giggled for a good 20 seconds straight. I love that he is so happy!

We also gave the bumbo seat a try this month. His chunky thighs barely fit in the seat but even squished in there, he loved the view! Ironically enough, big sister fits in there better than he does!

Clothing/Diaper Size
Size 3 diapers already! Big sister only ever made it to size 4's haha! He is catching up quickly. He is also officially in 6 month clothes. 16 pounds is impressive for a 3 month old!

Health Update:
The day before Thanksgiving, we got a call from the Urologist that he saw something on the ultrasound and wanted to do a VCUG. This procedure was really awful to watch our sweet boy go through as they had to put a catheter in and have him on the X-ray table for about 20 minutes.

For you mamas with babies/kids who have to go through things like this on a daily basis, my heart goes out to you. I am so thankful for a good report from the X-ray which was negative for reflux or blockages. His next appointment is in February, and they will do another ultrasound just to see how his kidney has changed since birth. Thank you to all of you who have consistently prayed for this little guy from 20 weeks on! He is most definitely fearfully and wonderfully made!

Memories
We took our first vacation as a family of 4 to visit the Smokey Mountains! It was a great trip and even warm enough to do a little hiking!

Family
Our boy still loves his daddy the most and gives him the most smiles and giggles. He also falls asleep so much better when he is in dad's arms! I have been tempted to call Jimmy home in the middle of a work day just to help me get him to sleep!

Big sister is still in love with her brother and makes sure that everyone we encounter knows that he belongs to her. She emphatically tells the cashier at every store "he's my brother". I hope she is always that excited to have him as her little brother!

We are so happy to be celebrating the miraculous birth of our Savior with our sweet boy who is the answer to so many prayers! We are so thankful for him and are looking forward to making some great Christmas memories the next few weeks!

The top viewed link this week once again belongs to Kristy from Rejoice and Repeat and her post It's a boy! Kristy shares a sweet comparison to her joy in finding out she was going to have a son to how Mary must have felt as she prepared for the birth of Jesus. After all, Mary was a mother just like we are!
